Rural vegetation

Tree pruning

Tree pruning and removal

Our Works Unit maintains vegetation along rural roadside areas outside of the 60 km zones. Council does not remove healthy vegetation unless it poses a safety issue, site obstruction or affects the flow of vehicular or foot traffic.

Council’s Parks and Gardens Unit looks after street trees and vegetation in townships within the 60km zone. For more information regarding trees and vegetation, local parks and playgrounds visit parks and gardens.

Road side slashing

Council’s road side slashing program occurs in the lead up to the start of the dry season each year. Road side slashing reduces fire risks and improves sight distances on our sealed rural roads. Council works with emergency agencies to plan roadside slashing. Weed hygiene practices are incorporated into the program to safeguard against the spread of noxious weeds.

Find more information about fire prevention or view a map of roads included in the roadside slashing program under fire prevention.

Weed management

Councils Works Unit conducts an annual spraying program to keep rural road side drains and guide posts weed free.

I have noxious weeds on my property, what should I do?
In accordance with the Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994, the removal and control of noxious weeds on private property is the sole responsibility of the owner.
