Sale of unclaimed livestock

IMPOUNDED - Council Officers impounded 2 red and white young Hereford bulls and 1 black and white young Black Baldy bull found in Baringhup West. The cattle are unbranded and unmarked. If the bulls are not claimed and expenses paid by Monday 19 February, Council intends to sell the impounded bulls by public auction at the Bendigo Livestock Exchange on Tuesday 20 February. For more information call the Local Laws team on 5471 1700.

Rate notices on the way

Council advises rate reminder notices have been posted and are due by Wednesday 28 February. Rates and charges are due in quarterly instalments. Council issues reminder notices at least 14 days before each instalment and offers a number of convenient methods for payment. Your rates go towards services like aged care, waste collection, maintenance of local roads, footpaths, playgrounds and more. Find out more at the Rates section of Council’s website.

Apply for a community grant

Don't forget to apply for a grant through Council’s Community Grant Program. Applications close at 4.00 pm on Friday 23 February. Find out more at www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/CommunityGrants or phone 5471 1744.

Tarrengower Ward by-election

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is conducting a by-election for the vacancy in the Tarrengower Ward. Three candidates have been confirmed. Ballot packs have been posted to voters enrolled in the Tarrengower Ward. Completed ballot papers must be postmarked or received by the Returning Officer by 6.00pm, Friday 16 February when voting closes. If you have not received your ballot papers or will be absent during the voting period contact the VEC on 131 832. For more information visit www.vec.vic.gov.au.
