Applying for one or more permits

On this webpage you will be able to apply for one or more permits.

These are the high-level steps you need to go through when applying for your business permits:

1. Understand which permits you are likely to need - talk to our economy & culture team, or complete self-assessment tool
2. Complete your permit application forms
3. Upload the required documents to the form
4. Submit your application
5. Our team will confirm reception and review your application
6. We will be in touch to arrange the payments of your permit applications
7. Estimated time frame 60 days

Planning permit application

Town planning permits are made to make sure we grow the shire in a safe and meaningful way.

They are likely to be required when:

  • Starting a new business
  • Changing business type or trading hours
  • Applying or altering a liquor licence
  • Adding or changing signage
  • Changing your parking arrangements
  • Providing accommodation
  • Hosting an event on private land
  • Start an animal boarding, trading or breeding business

Buying an existing food, accommodation, caravan park, skin penetration or beauty-related business

Registering when you buy an existing health-related business is required so that council can ensure that best practices are in place.

They are likely to be required when:

  • Buying an existing food business
  • Buying an existing accommodation business or caravan park
  • Buying an existing business such as tattooing or beauty centre

Health-related business permits are in place to ensure that all Mount Alexander Shire health and beauty related business are safe for our residents, visitors and environment.

  • Planning to conduct health or cosmetic related services such as: hairdressing, beauty treatment, colonic irrigation, tattooing, skin penetration or piercing

Register a caravan park
