Council meetings during COVID-19 pandemic

Council meetings are open to the public with COVIDSafe practices in place. The meetings are also live streamed via YouTube. Search Mount Alexander Shire Council.

To raise a question or a statement at the Council meeting for Public Question Time, write to the Governance Team, Mount Alexander Shire Council, PO Box 185, Castlemaine 3450 VIC, or email governance@mountalexander.vic.gov.au by 12 noon on the day of the meeting.

Council Meetings

Council Meetings are open to the public.

Council Meetings are currently held in the Castlemaine Town Hall on Lyttleton Streets in Castlemaine. Entry is via Frederick Street. Meetings commence at 6.30 pm.

Agendas are made available to the public by the close of business on the Thursday preceding the Meeting, online as separate pdf documents for download and as hard copies from the Civic Centre.

Minutes are available by close of business on the Friday following the Meeting.

Once Minutes are confirmed the Agendas are removed from Council's website, as the full Agenda is available in the Minutes.

Filming of Council Meetings

Council live streams Council Meetings via YouTube to increase transparency and remove access to barriers to attendance at the meetings.

The recording equipment focuses on Councillors and aims to avoid filming the public gallery as much as possible. Any visitor to the public gallery should be aware their presence and voice may be recorded.

Special Meetings of Council

A Special Meeting of Council was held at 5.30 pm on Tuesday 25 May to hear public submissions on the Proposed Budget 2021-2022.
