Home maintenance

Our home maintenance program provides minor home repairs to improve your safety and independence at home.

Services available include:

  • Installation of smoke detectors
  • Annual replacement of smoke detectors batteries
  • Spring cleaning. This may include de-cobwebbing cleaning fans, air conditioning filters, fridges and decluttering
  • Installing security door viewers
  • Window cleaning and help to wash curtains 
  • Installation of key safes 
  • Changing light globes 
  • Repairs of unsafe paths and steps 
  • Safety clearing if you live in a fire prone area
  • Pruning of shrubs – for safety purposes only
  • Removal of green waste or hard rubbish (tip fees apply)
  • Annual gutter cleaning

Note:

  • We can only provide services that do not need a qualified tradesperson such as an electrician or plumber.
  • Services are charged at one hour of service for each Property Maintenance Officer (PMO). If two PMO's attend for one hour you will be charged for two hours of service plus any expenses such as smoke alarm batteries, or tip fees.
  • Our PMO's do not complete general gardening tasks such as lawn mowing.

Home modifications

Home modifications help you to increase or maintain your independence, safety and wellbeing. To access this service you are referred to an Occupational Therapist (OT) who will visit your home and make recommendations on modifications you may need.

Once we have received your OT recommendations we will provide you with a quote to approve before we start any work.

Examples of home modification include:

  • Grab rails in bathrooms and toilets
  • Internal and external handrails
  • Ramps and platform steps
  • Installation of hand-held shower heads
  • Removal of shower screens and installation of a shower curtain
  • Lever tap sets or lever door handles
  • Installation of emergency alarms and safety aids
  • Slip resistant floor strips
  • Chair and bed raisers

Note:

We can only provide services that do not require a qualified tradesperson such as a licensed electrician or plumber. Services are charged at one hour of service for each Property Maintenance Officer (PMO). If two PMO's attend for one hour you will be charged for two hours of service plus materials.
