Castlemaine Safe Space (CaSS)

POSTCARDfinalPngSSClean-002

Castlemaine Safe Space is a non-clinical drop in space for anyone in emotional distress, or experiencing loneliness or suicidal thoughts. We are community designed and led, and staffed by trained peer volunteers with lived experience.

When you visit the Castlemaine Safe Space, you will be greeted at the door and welcomed by one of our peer volunteers. You will be offered a hot or cold drink, a snack if you’re hungry, and the choice of sitting with one of the trained volunteers and having a confidential one-on-one conversation about any problems or difficult feelings you may be experiencing, or simply relaxing in our calm space. You can then choose whether to sit and chat with other guests, or enjoy some peaceful time alone.

Because we are non-clinical, we do not take records of people’s names or identities, there are no clinical assessments or referrals necessary, and everything discussed is completely confidential.

We will not contact emergency services on your behalf - unless you ask us to. If you are in distress, it is your choice what actions are taken. We wish you to feel in control and are at all times wanting to provide a safe and caring environment for you without any fear of having your choices taken out of your hands.

The Castlemaine Safe Space has an open-door policy – all are welcome to attend during opening hours, and are invited to return whenever we are open.

We look forward to seeing you.
