Conservation work to the gates, and replacement of damaged or missing metal spears has enabled the retention of the special heritage values that are unique to the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens, which will be preserved and retained for future generations.
The conservation works were carefully considered in relation to the heritage significance of the site and architectural features, and were managed under Heritage Victoria orders.
Council secured funding from the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI) to conserve the iron and stonework of the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens Main Gates.
