Road naming proposals

Renaming Break Neck Hill Track in Campbells Creek

Council is planning to rename Break Neck Hill Track due to non-compliance under Principle (D) of the Naming rules for places in Victoria. This outlines that in rural areas, names cannot be duplicated within a 30 kilometre radius.

Break Neck Hill Track is less a kilometre from Break Neck Hill Road, Yapeen, and is therefore required to be renamed.

There has been a request to rename Breakneck Hill Track to Yulawil Ridge Road. Yulawil means Echidna in the local Dja Dja Wurrung language, and has been proposed due to numerous echidnas leaving in the area.

Any persons who have a familial link to the naming proposal or object to the proposed name have thirty (30) days to notify Council in writing.

All submissions are to be addressed to the Governance Unit by Friday 13 May.
