What made you want to run for Council?

I wanted to contribute my skills and experience as a community leader to both my ward and the broader shire. Being a Councillor brings you into direct contact with so many people, groups, businesses and its great to be able to advocate and show pathways that can assist them.

The voices of residents, businesses and our passionate community groups represent a wealth of knowledge and tenacity and it is inspiring to work with the energy that they bring.

What are your top three priority areas for your term?

  • We need a balanced approach to delivering Council services and infrastructure across the whole community
  • I will advocate for good planning that responds to the different needs and characteristics of towns within the shire. This ranges from heritage to traffic safety, from local economies to our built and natural environment
  • Sustainability for the organisations, groups and volunteers who are at the heart of our community’s wellbeing

What do you love most about your local area and community?

I have chosen to make Maldon, Mount Alexander Shire and Central Victoria my home. I love the natural landscape, the environment, and the wildlife that share this home with us.

Mount Tarrengower (Dharran Gauwa or “big rough mountain” in Djaara language) overlooks Maldon and surrounding areas and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from and work with our First Nations community, the Dja Dja Wurrung.

I am continually learning from the different communities as well as the natural and built heritage from the gold rush era which has had such a strong impact on our region. I am inspired by the passion, talents, resilience and generosity of our people as well as the extraordinary range of events and creativity that connect across our communities.
