Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting residents to make use of the community wellbeing bus that travels between Mount Alexander Shire and Gurri Wanyarra, the wellbeing centre in Kangaroo Flat.

The wheelchair accessible bus is driven by friendly volunteers who pick up and drop off residents directly from their homes.

The bus travels to Gurri Wanyarra on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays, providing access to the pools, health club and group fitness classes.

Gurri Wanyarra is equipped with accessible designated parking, wheelchair access, accessible changerooms, lift access to the health club and a gradual ramp entry to the large warm water pool.

Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Manager Community Wellbeing, Rosalie Rogers, said that the community wellbeing bus is a great way to stay active.

“The bus enables people who don’t have access to transport to regularly access health and leisure activities,” said Ms Rogers.

“I encourage anyone who needs a ride to Gurri Wanyarra to get in touch. We have a great time on the bus, and the mental and physical health benefits of getting out and about are really positive.”
