Applications for the next round of Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Event Grants are now open.

The program supports groups and individuals who are running public events, and there are three funding streams of $1,000, $2,000 and $3,000 available.

The last round saw 16 groups benefit from the program including Newstead Live, The Maine Game and Taradale Mineral Springs Festival.

Funding can be used for a wide variety of event-related costs, including venue and equipment hire, marketing, traffic management and more.

“At Mount Alexander Shire Council, we’re passionate about building a thriving events culture. It’s good for community, good for the culture and it’s good for businesses,” said Ed Butler, Manager of Engagement and Customer Experience.

“That’s why we make these grants available, so every event, large and small, can get the support they need to thrive,” said Mr Butler.

Previous Event Grants recipient, Lyndal McClure, President of the Castlemaine Jazz Festival, said she valued the support the festival receives from Council.

“Castlemaine Jazz Festival was very grateful and excited to receive a Council Event Grant,” said Ms McClure.

“We also appreciate the support of the events team.”
