Mount Alexander Shire Council will be undertaking maintenance works on the Castlemaine Skate Park to improve safety, remove graffiti and update amenities for the entire community.

The skate park, which is located at Western Reserve in Castlemaine, is a hub of activity for local young people to skate, socialise and enjoy the outdoors.

The maintenance works, which are outlined in the 2022-2023 Budget, will focus on improving safety, enhancing the overall skating experience and providing a cleaner environment for the community.

The project will include the following works:

• Repairs to unsafe cracks, chips and holes in concrete.
• Removal of as much graffiti as possible using high-pressure water.
• Application of anti-graffiti coating.
• Application of sealant.
• Cleaning of the entire skate park.

These works will be undertaken by SkateCon, who are an established business solely dedicated to the repair and maintenance of skate parks.

During these works, SkateCon will identify priority areas for mulch removal, which will be replaced with a suitable alternative. Council will undertake these additional works at a separate date.

The skate park will be unavailable for use during the week of 12 June (dates are weather dependent).

Council thanks the community for their patience and support while these important works take place.
