In coming weeks, Castlemaine can expect to see some exciting activity. Filming has been scheduled on an upcoming film called The Mongoose, starring Liam Neeson, to take place in various parts of Castlemaine from 17-25 February.

The arrival of a large film crew in Castlemaine will bring benefits to local businesses, while also putting Castlemaine on the world stage with its attendant benefits to tourism.

Filming will involve some disruption to road access in parts of central Castlemaine, specifically on Lyttleton, Templeton and Frederick Streets, as well as some filming on the Midland Highway near Maclise Street.

We understand that this filming might cause some inconvenience over those days. At Mount Alexander Shire Council, we are seeking to maximise the substantial benefits this opportunity presents the shire and the region, while recognising and minimising the effect it has on the community’s day-to-day operations.

At this point, details of the specific times and locations of filming are still forthcoming, and as such no permits have yet been finalised.

As we work closely with the production company, Servo Productions, on arranging these permits, we are strongly advocating for Servo to work closely with the community and local businesses to ensure the benefits of this event are shared by all.

For any queries or concerns regarding the filming, we encourage you to contact the Supervising Location Manager, Stephen Brett on 0419 335 636 or David Hart, Location Assistant on 0417 316 694.

We will be sure to update this page with more information for the community as we are provided with it.
