Children's Week

Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting the community to celebrate Children’s Week by getting involved in a range of exciting local events.

Children’s Week runs from Saturday 19 October to Sunday 27 October, and celebrates children’s right to enjoy childhood, as well as demonstrate their talents skills and abilities.

The theme for 2024 is: Children have a right to a clean and safe environment.

“Children’s Week is always fun and exciting,” said Sally Beatie, Council’s Early Years Project Officer.

“It’s a time for us to come together as a community to connect and celebrate our children.

“The events on in our shire beautifully reflect this year’s theme of a clean and safe environment.

“There’s nature and outdoor play with the picnic at Buda, and art and upcycling at the Castlemaine Art Museum.

“There are also opportunities to learn, reflect, read and write at the Newstead Young Writers Festival.

“I encourage local families to get involved in Children’s Week – it’s the perfect time to play, explore, learn and connect.”
