Council continues flood recovery works
Published on 06 February 2024
Mount Alexander Shire Council is continuing its commitment to flood recovery works across the shire.
Rainfall from late December to early January caused significant flooding to various areas of the shire.
The most severely impacted roads were in the north and northeast parts of the shire, with isolated damage in other parts of the shire.
Our crews are continuing to inspect the road and drainage network in the shire, and work through a priority list of repairs.
Some of the damage to the road network includes seal loss, road shoulder damage, unsealed road damage and drainage network damage.
Following the event, the first priority was to restore access to the roads, with traffic control measures put in place. This was achieved within the first 24 hours.
The next priority was to engage contractors to begin road restoration works.
The following works are currently underway:
- Major seal repairs on two roads.
- Full or spot re-sheet and drainage repair on approximately 20 unsealed roads.
- Shoulder damage repairs on five roads.
