Council invites local artists to take over the Phee foyer

Mount Alexander Shire Council is calling for local artists and organisations to express their interest in exhibiting their work as part of the 2024-2025 Phee Broadway Theatre Foyer Exhibition Program.
The Phee Broadway Theatre, which is located on Mechanics Lane in Castlemaine, is a community gathering place, where creativity is fostered, people connect, and shared narratives are explored.
Council’s Manager of Economy and Culture, Merryn Tinkler, said that Council is proud to be supporting local artists through this program.
“The Phee Broadway Theatre shares a foyer with the Castlemaine Library, making it a highly-used community space and the perfect spot for an exhibition,” said Ms Tinkler.
“We have a community of very talented and passionate artists in our shire, and we’re proud to support them with a professional space to showcase their work.
“We had 14 artists exhibit their work over the last year and it was an incredible selection. We’ve had acrylic paintings, photography, macramé, pencil illustrations and lots more.
“We’re now looking for expressions of interest from all sectors of our artistic community for the coming 12 months.
“We’re really looking forward to see what our local artists have in store.”
Expressions of interest open on Thursday 30 May and close on Monday 24 June at 5.00pm, with the first exhibition in the program set to open to the public in August.
