Mount Alexander Shire Council has launched a new website focused on user-experience, making it easier for the community to access essential services.

Some of the new features include:

  • home page access to the 12 most visited pages. This includes bin days, employment opportunities, how to apply for a permit and more
  • an intuitive search bar
  • simpler forms and payment options
  • an easy-to-use permit finder
  • ·new community and business directories
  • details on bin collection days
  • easy access to Shape Mount Alexander – Council’s online engagement website
  • a list of local events.

It also has a fresh new look including new community photos.

This new, purpose-built website was developed with OpenCities, who have created websites for over 170 government agencies.

Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Manager of Communications and Customer Service, Ed Butler, said that Council is thrilled to have launched the new website. See here a video of him walking through the main features of the site:

“This has been a long time coming. After lots of hard work and some great community support we’re delighted to be able to hit ‘go’,” said Mr Butler.

“At every step on this process, we’ve been focused on building something that works for the users – for the community.

“We know there are a lot of people who would love to be able to access our services without having to call or visit. I hope this helps them do exactly that. At last, you can find your bin night online!

“Our previous site was getting a bit long in the tooth. The community had told us as much, so it’s great to be able to offer something that works this well.

“In developing a new website, our aim has been to make it as easy as possible for the community to find the information they need online.

“I really encourage everyone to hop online and take a look. It’s well-designed, accessible, user-friendly, easy to navigate and beautiful to look at.

“We’re incredibly proud of the new website and are confident that it will make things easier for everyone.”
