Education sessions for a safe and positive sporting club environment
Published on 22 July 2024
Calling all local sporting clubs! Do you want to improve club culture and the wellbeing of young people? Attract new members, engage more volunteers and access greater funding opportunities?
Book your place now in one of the free educational sessions being held in August for local sporting clubs.
Mount Alexander Shire Council has partnered with Good Sports to deliver the sessions, which will teach clubs how to improve culture and wellbeing, and provide information regarding liquor licensing responsibilities.
Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Mayor, Councillor Matthew Driscoll, said that these events are a great opportunity for sporting clubs to have a look at their culture and environments.
“Committee members, volunteers and coaches are invited to get involved in insightful conversation, and gain valuable information, resources and practical tips to support your club members in leading a healthier lifestyle,” said Mayor Driscoll.
“It’s also about making sure your staff and volunteers feel confident to better recognise signs of mental health and alcohol related harm.
“The benefits for clubs for participating in Good Sports are endless, but being a family-friendly, supportive, safe and healthy club are the main ones.
“I encourage all sporting clubs in our shire to book a spot for these informative and inspiring free sessions.”
