Hydrate. Feel great. New drinking fountains installed across the shire

Mount Alexander Shire Council has partnered with Healthy Loddon Campaspe to install new drinking fountains across the shire, and encourage residents to drink more water and stay hydrated
The drinking fountains were provided by Coliban Water as part of its ‘Choose Tap’ program.
Adults in Mount Alexander Shire drink an average of 4.8 cups of water per day, with only 18 per cent of the population drinking the recommended eight cups or more.*
32 per cent of residents consume sugar-sweetened drinks such as soft drink, cordial, sports drinks and energy drinks daily or weekly.*
Council’s Director Corporate and Community Services, Lisa Knight, said that Council is proud to partner with Healthy Loddon Campaspe on this project.
“Installing more drinking fountains across our shire means more people have easy access to fresh, free water.
“There are so many benefits to choosing tap water over bottled, sugary drinks – you’ll feel great and improve your health, and it’s good for the environment.”
New accessible drinking fountains have been installed in Taradale near the new youth space and Campbells Creek Recreation Reserve, with another planned for Maldon.
New maps highlighting the locations of the drinking fountains are now available at www.healthyloddoncampaspe.au/hydratefeelgreat.
“These maps are an amazing resource for our community, so make sure you find the ones closest to you or your sporting clubs and keep a water bottle handy.”
