Town Folk Fest 2024

Calling all local event organisers!

Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Event Grants program is now open which is the perfect opportunity to get your community event up and running.

The Event Grants program opens on Monday 12 August and supports groups who are running public events.

There are three funding streams available: $1,000, $2,000 and $3,000.

The last round saw 18 groups benefit from the program including Lot 19 Creations, a Maldon Heritage Network event and the Castlemaine Rotary Truck Show.

Jeremy Furze, Town Folk Festival’s Director, said that the Event Grants program has been a fantastic boost for the festival.

“The reality of events is they are very expensive to run and often fall short or break even,” said Jeremy, “so this support is very important in getting new events off the ground.

“The application process is very straight forward and the events team are always there to help.”

Council’s Mayor, Councillor Matthew Driscoll, said that Council is proud to support local events with the grant program.

“Our creative and dedicated community always puts on fantastic events locally,” said Mayor Driscoll.

“The grants program means we can financially back local events which benefit our community enormously.

“In the last round of events we saw a music, sports, markets and lots more.

“I’m looking forward to see what events come from this round.”

Applications open: Monday 12 August
Applications close: Monday 9 September

In addition to the Community Grants and Event Grants programs, there are also Quick Response Event Grants, which are available all year round and can provide up to $500 per event.

Event Grants review

Council is looking to improve the support and funding they offer through the Event Grants program.

They’re conducting a review to make sure the right events are being supported with the right funding at the right time.

“We love local events,” said Mayor Driscoll, “and one of the ways we’re supporting them is by reviewing our Event Grants program.

“We’re committed to understanding what’s important to our community when it comes to local events, and that’s why we want to hear from you.

“Tell us about your favourite local events. Are there any gaps that need to be filled? How can we deliver more accessible and inclusive events?”

Council is inviting the community to have their say on the current program, offering their thoughts and recommendations.

Feedback will be used to review the program and potentially make changes moving forward.

To have your say, visit www.shape.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/event-grants-program-review and complete a short survey.

Feedback closes on Friday 13 September.
