Let’s define the future of tourism in our region together
Published on 14 November 2023
Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting the community to have their say on the future of tourism in the wider Bendigo region.
The Bendigo Regional Destination Management Plan (DMP) is a document that outlines the allocation of resources and investment across the region.
The DMP is set for review and Council, along with Bendigo Regional Tourism and neighbouring councils, are working together to ensure the updated document reflects the best possible future vision for tourism.
Council is asking residents, businesses, community groups, students and other stakeholders to provide input, which will inform the document through a wide range of local perspectives and ideas.
Mount Alexander Shire Council’s Manager of Economy and Culture, Merryn Tinkler, said that our region is an incredible tourist destination, and the updated DMP will serve to elevate its prominence across the country.
“Mount Alexander Shire and surrounds have so much to offer visitors in terms of natural landscape, shopping and restaurants, festivals, arts more,” said Ms Tinkler.
“We also have a passionate and engaged community whose opinions and expertise prove to be invaluable time and time again.
“This is why we want to hear from our residents about tourism in our region.
“We want to know what you love about this region. We want to know what experiences you recommend to family and friends, and what challenges your community faces in terms of tourism.
“I encourage everyone to hop online and complete a short survey to tell us what you think.
“You can also come along to our workshop and speak to our tourism team in person. This is a great way to ask questions as well and give your feedback.”
Have your say
The survey closes on Monday 27 November.
