Listening posts bring residents and Councillors together

Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting community members to meet their local Councillor as part of its 2024 Listening Post Program.

The program creates opportunities for Councillors to hear directly from residents, and sees Councillors from various wards set up in spots across the shire ready to talk to, and listen to, community members.

These sessions provide a chance for open conversation, allowing Councillors to understand the needs and priorities of their communities better.

Council’s Mayor, Cr Matthew Driscoll said he’s looking forward to meeting more community members through the program.

“Last year you told us you wanted to see and hear more from your Councillors, so we’re making that a priority,” said Mayor Driscoll.

“All of the sessions throughout the shire are informal and open to everyone – bring your ideas and questions.”

“By bringing Councillors and communities closer together, we’re making decision-making more transparent and accountable.”

“On behalf of Mount Alexander Shire Councillors, we’re looking forward to making more time this year to talk to you face-to-face about things that matter to you.”

“And if you can’t make a listening post session in-person, there are still plenty of ways you can get in touch with us to leave your ideas and feedback,” said Mayor Driscoll.

Visit Council’s ‘Let’s keep talking!’ page on www.shape.mountalexander.vic.gov.au for information on how your ideas and feedback can be shared with Council.
