Local towns receive Christmas Grants to celebrate the festive season

Towns across Mount Alexander Shire Council will come to life this festive season to celebrate Christmas as a community.
Council has awarded $10,000 in funding to eight towns including Castlemaine, Newstead, Elphinstone and Taradale, Harcourt, Muckleford, Guildford, and Maldon, to support Christmas celebrations.
Each town will use the funds for decorations, and community celebrations including food, music, children’s activities, Santa visits and more.
“The Mount Alexander Shire community loves to get behind Christmas”, said Merryn Tinkler, Council’s Manager Economy and Culture.
“Our community told us that Christmas decorations and celebrations are important to them, and this is the third year of Christmas community grants. This year we were really excited with the submissions and are thrilled to contribute to the colour and energy of the season.
“I’m looking forward to our shire coming to life with decorations, music, community events.”
