Mount Alexander Shire Council is pleased to announce that Mayor Councillor Rosie Annear has been appointed to the 2023 Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel (LGMAP).

Mayor Annear joins 13 other Mayors from around Victoria to advise the Minister for Local Government, Melissa Horne, over the course of the year.

The group provide advice on legislative, regulatory, strategic and policy decisions that impact the local government sector, as well as present ideas and opportunities for improving local government.

Mount Alexander Shire Council Mayor Rosie Annear said she was proud to represent the shire on the panel.

“The diversity of the panel is remarkable”, said Mayor Annear.

“It’s so nice to hear everyone’s experiences and to share the challenges we experience, and also celebrate the things that are working.”

“It’s also a real opportunity to be able to put the priorities of local government directly to the minister.”

“She has a genuine curiosity about the issues we face in our region, and wants to know what’s working, and what could be improved in local government”, said Mayor Annear.

The LGMAP is a statutory advisory committee established on an annual basis.

The first advisory panel meeting was held on 4 April 2023.
