Meet Julie: School Crossing Supervisor
Published on 14 September 2023
Julie is one of our shire's hard-working School Crossing Supervisors.
We have a number of other roles available, so we spoke to Julie about what she loves about the job.
What drew you to the role?
The chance to work and help in the community really appealed to me.
What is the best thing about the job?
I find the best thing about the job is meeting the children, their response to my greetings and the adults who pass by the crossing to have a quick conversation.
How long have you been a school crossing supervisor?
I have been in the job for 14 months.
Can you think of a time when you had a funny interaction with the kids?
I hadn't been in the job long, when one morning a little boy asked me had I had a bad sleep last night. I said: 'No it was okay, why do you ask?'
He replied that I looked so tired he thought I hadn't had any sleep at all!
What would you say to someone thinking about applying for one of the roles?
I would say: 'Go for it. It is very rewarding.'
