The role
Key responsibilities undertaken by the Gardener include:
- Assist with the implementation of Council’s Parks and Open Space works program
- Undertake all other general maintenance as required to ensure the Shire’s public open spaces are presented to a high standard.
- Tasks may include, but are not limited to, mowing, brushcutting, watering, weeding, planting, rubbish removal, pruning, herbicide spraying and mulching.
- Assist with the routine maintenance of assigned plant and equipment to ensure it is in good working order and report any mechanical faults of equipment or vehicles to the Crew Leader
- Ensure that all work is undertaken in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with Council’s service standards
Our ideal candidate
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Relevant experience and qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in operation of a range of vehicles, plant and equipment used in horticultural / open space maintenance
- Chemical Awareness and Safety Training certificate
- A current light truck licence
