Mount Alexander Shire is known for its local food and wine, for a vibrant arts community and breathtaking natural surrounds. Perfectly located in Central Victoria, around 30 minutes from Bendigo by car or just 20 by rail, with Melbourne only 90 minutes away, you’ll enjoy a balanced lifestyle with great services, schools and homes in townships like Castlemaine and Maldon.

We are seeking volunteers to join our Social Support team.

As part of the Community Wellbeing unit, our volunteers assist socially isolated and transport poor older persons to stay socially engaged and active.

There are various roles available including home visitors, mini-bus drivers, cards and scrabble players, and people to help make tea and coffee. How much time you want to commit is up to you, from as little as one hour, to ten or more hours per week.

The roles involve working with vulnerable people and police checks and some basic training will be required. Any training, including first aid, will be provided and paid for by Council.

Mount Alexander Shire Council is a Centrelink Approved Voluntary Work Organisation.

If you have any queries or would like to discuss the role, please contact Monte Macpherson, Business Support Officer Healthy Ageing (03) 5471 1797 or email m.macpherson@mountalexander.vic.gov.au
