Mount Alexander Shire Council is encouraging all residents and businesses to share what they love about their community and their vision for its future, as part of the six-month project, Your Community, Your Vision.

“Everyone who lives here in the shire, or visits, knows how vibrant and connected it is,” said Tony Cordy, Mayor of Mount Alexander Shire.

“We got here by working together. This project is about continuing that work, and coming up with a shared vision of what the community should be in a decade.”

“It doesn’t matter which town you live in across the shire, if you work for a local business, are a student at one of the local schools, or a member of a local community group or club. We want to hear from you.”

Feedback provided as part of the project will inform the development of a number of long-term Council strategies and priorities.

“We believe that the best way we can come up with a vision for our shire’s future, is together,” said Mayor Cordy.

“To help us achieve that we’ve invested in a brand new state-of-the-art online engagement platform that will give the community an opportunity for genuine interaction and involvement in Council decision-making processes.”

Visit shape.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/vision and get involved in the first round of the Your Community, Your Vision project in a number of ways:

Share your one minute vision - Give us three words that describe your experience of Mount Alexander Shire today, and three words that describe the community in ten years’ time via our online or hardcopy survey.

Complete the full survey – This is an opportunity to provide more detailed feedback, and takes up to ten minutes to complete.

Residents and businesses can provide further thoughts and feedback, as well as upload stories, videos and photographs on the consultation website.

“To be able to have one place, online, where people’s thoughts can be sought and gathered, and where we can report back to the community, creates a level of civic engagement that previously simply wasn’t possible,” said Lisa Knight, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mount Alexander Shire Council.

Survey respondents are required to create an account on the website prior to completing a survey, helping participants stay informed as the project develops.

“There are a number of phases as part of the Your Community, Your Vision consultation process, and feedback received during each of them will inform the development of a new 2021 - 2025 Council Plan, and our Annual Plan and Budget,” said Ms Knight.

“We are absolutely thrilled about the ability for us to shape a new vision for the shire’s future, and strongly encourage everyone to contribute and make your voice heard,” said Ms Knight.

Visit shape.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/vision to complete the surveys, or for more information.

Hardcopy surveys will be available throughout the shire, and can also be requested by calling (03) 5471 1700 or emailing shape@mountalexander.vic.gov.au
