COVID-19 update

With the easing of coronavirus restrictions in Regional Victoria, Council has reopened the Customer Service Centre and Visitor Information Centre in Castlemaine.

The Civic Centre is open for limited face-to-face services including general queries, pet registrations and payments. Staff are available for technical queries by phone, email and via the website.

Castlemaine Visitor Information Centre is open seven days. COVIDSafe measures include mandatory QR code check in and face masks.

For more information on changes to Council services visit mountalexander.vic.gov.au/coronavirus. For information on COVID-19 restrictions, and where to get vaccinated or tested visit www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au.

If you or anyone you know needs local help, support or food relief contact Council’s dedicated COVID-19 support line from 9.00am to 5.00pm (Monday to Friday) on 1800 512 446 or by email covid19@mountalexander.vic.gov.au.

Go Local First

Buy and shop local to help support local businesses and boost economic recovery. Small businesses provide local jobs and contribute to around a third of our economic activity.

There are many ways you can support local businesses, producers, makers and traders. Stay local over the long weekend, dine in or get takeaway from a local restaurant or café, pick up fresh produce from the Farmers Market, and buy goods and gifts from local shops and creatives.

Extra time to pay rates

Ratepayers in Mt Alexander Shire have some extra time to pay their rates before interest starts to accrue, given COVID-19 restrictions have recently kept people at home.

The fourth 2020/2021 rate instalment was due on Monday 31 May. However, Council has extended the interest-free period until Monday 14 June due to the recent circuit breaker restrictions.

For more information visit www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/rates.

Drop in for a cuppa and a chat

Council is running drop-in sessions at community halls in the shire in June for residents who would like to connect with other people and learn more about local activities and services.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, sessions planned between 7 June and 11 June have been rescheduled. For more information call 5471 1700 or visit www.mountalexander.vic.gov.au/CASI. Sessions will be COVIDsafe, and pending public health advice.
