Caravan parks must be registered with their local council and comply with the requirements of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 and the Residential Tenancies (Caravan Parks and Moveable Dwellings Registration and Standards) Regulations 2010. See Related links.
If a caravan park sells food to the public there will be notification or registration requirements under the Food Act 1984.
Structures installed at a caravan park must be designed and constructed to appropriate standards. Annexes and other structures must be able to withstand strong wind speeds, have minimum ceiling heights, appropriate ventilation, insulation and other features. Council will need to check whether the installation has any implications for planning, fire safety or emergency management.
Before installing any structures Council must be notified of the intentions and show evidence that the structure is an approved design.
