A contractor has been selected to undertake the basic maintenance works on the structure. Minor works remain.
Phase one – completed June 2024
The first phase involves some vegetation trimming around the guard railing, repairs to the concrete piers, barrier rail and deck.
Phase two – Completed June 2024
The second phase involves beaching works to improve scour protection around the abutments, vegetation removal in and around the abutments and basic repairs to the bridge abutments.
Phase three – Completed July 2024
The third phase will require the removal of existing pavement on the deck and approaches to the road. A new asphalt pavement will then be constructed.
Phase four – Works to be completed in Spring/Summer period
During the works on the Froomes Road bridge abutments/piers the concrete spalling repair works on the undersection of the central pier were unable to be completed due to the water level. The contractor undertaking these works will complete these repair works during the Spring/Summer period when there are low water levels. Additional rock beaching works will be completed to improve scour protection.
